Serie A Betting Preview – Week 7

It’s a busy weekend ahead in Serie A with the international break upon us. Leaders Juventus and Napoli will be confident of winning their games at Empoli and Atalanta to consolidate their places at the top and possibly extending their lead with third place Inter travelling to Roma, one point and one place behind the Nerazzurri.

Capital Crisis

Roma succumbed to a 1 – 3 reverse at Torino last weekend but they weren’t the only ones have a bad time of it as Inter threw away two points against Atalanta in the San Siro. For both, it was costly and defeat for either will all but end their already-slim title hopes.

Roma are relying upon their senior citizens this season with Francesco Totti grabbing two goals this season despite his youthful forty years of age. Meanwhile, Daniele De Rossi, a mere whippersnapper at 33, is still putting in a shift in the midfield.

Inter’s campaign began with a two-goal defeat at Chievo but the 2 – 1 win over Juventus shows just what this team is capable of. Mauro Icardi is on fire this season with six Serie A goals this season especially with Roma struggling to keep clean sheets.

With neither side wanting to lose, this could be a cagey affair but that doesn’t mean there won’t be goals. Perotti and Dzeko for the home side will be a constant thorn in the Inter side and have to be watched carefully. Even so Inter are only conceding an average of a goal per game and it’s likely that run will continue.

It’s been eight years since an Inter side won this fixture but Saturday could see that dismal run brought to an end, with a 2 – 1 win good value at 11/1 with comeon!

Elsewhere…

Juventus are odds-on to win at Empoli and will be in good heart after a 4 – 0 win in this week’s Champions League fixture. So good, that the odds of 12/1 with comeon! for the same scoreline are too good to resist with Gonzalo Higuain already netting five times this season.

Napoli are refusing to give up the chase this season. Despite selling Higuain to their title rivals in an eye-watering £75m deal, the Neapolitans are refusing to give up on ending Juve’s dominance of Italian football. Arkadiusz Milik has hit seven in eight to lessen the pain of the Argentinian’s departure.

A point separates the two sides and with Napoli visiting Atalanta, that’s unlikely to change. Jose Callejon has also been among the goals this season and we’d expect him to feature heavily among the goalscorers. At 6/1, he’s a good bet with comeon! for the first goal of the game.

Top Tip

There’s a bottom of the table in Genoa where Sampdoria take on Palermo. The home side are desperate for points and so are the visitors which is why 15/2 for the 0 – 0 draw looks good money with comeon!
