RB Leipzig are in danger letting the runners up spot slip through their fingers to Borussia Dortmund unless they get back to winning ways quickly.
A draw and two defeats prior to the international break has let Thomas Tuchel’s Dortmund side get to within three points of the Red Bull backed outfit.
Pressure is mounting although Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl will be confident of picking up three points on Saturday as bottom side Darmstadt 98 are the visitors to the Red Bull arena.
Earlier in the season, Leipzig would have been one of the shortest prices of the season, however, patching form of late has priced them at 10/31 for the win with Darmstadt at 9/1.
Despite this, still get on a comfortable Leipzig win and a clean sheet against a side who managed just 17 goals all season at 20/21 with us.
Few would have predicted at the start of the season that Hoffenheim’s trip to face Hertha Berlin would be the mouth-watering tie of any weekend, but it is.
Both have been flying this season with Hoffenheim in fourth and Berlin in Fifth. Much has been made of Hoffenheim only having lost twice all season with just five points separating the two.
Hoffenheim will have one eye on securing a Champions League spot and a win over Hertha on Friday night will almost secure the achtzehn99 a place at Europe’s elite tournament for next season (at least a qualifying round slot anyway).
A tense affair should be on the cards in this one with plenty to lose for both sides. Expect few goals meaning a bet of under 2.5 goals at 10/13 could be the way to go.
The draw looks a likely result at 9/4, however, if you are going to do that, then a correct score bet at 11/2 for the game to finish 1-1 could be the best bet of the weekend.
Schalke could be the team to cause the upset of the weekend as they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Veltins-Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Schalke recorded back to back wins over Ausburg and Mainz prior to the break and will fancy their chances of making it a hat-trick of wins with home advantage.
Dortmund followed up their disappointing loss to Hertha Berlin with a win over struggling Ingolstadt last time out but it was only a narrow 1-0 victory.
Rumours have been circulating that Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel is being lined up as the next Arsenal boss and Schalke may be in line to take advantage of any uncertainty.
Schalke are an impressive 11/4 to snatch the home win and make it three victories in a row. Dortmund are 1/1 with the draw a tempting option at 13/5 with Comeon!
However, go for a Schalke win and allow Leipzig to breathe a sigh of relief.
Fourth placed Hoffenheim travel to face Hertha Berlin on Friday night, there is a lot riding on this one with European places up for grabs.
