There seems certain to be another antagonistic atmosphere at Arsenal on Sunday but there should be plenty of goals in the game against Manchester City.
The Gunners have an excellent recent record at home against Manchester City but, with the futures of Arsene Wenger, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all still up in the air, Arsenal fans remain split about how the club’s future will pan out.
Arsenal have lost just one of their last 19 home Premier League matches against City, winning 12 of them, and triumphed in the corresponding fixture last term 2-1 thanks to first-half goals by Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud.
The last seven Premier League meetings between these two sides have produced no less than 27 goals so odds of 29/20 on there being over 3.5 goals in Sunday’s match seem too good to ignore.
City are looking to do the double over Arsenal for the first time since the 1975/76 campaign having come from behind to beat Wenger’s team 2-1 in December.
City are unbeaten in their last eight top-flight matches since the 4-0 humbling at Everton in mid-January and are 5/4 to win Sunday’s match with Raheem Sterling good value at 57/20 to score at any time in the encounter.
Arsenal desperately need a victory to silence the doom-mongers among their fans as they come into the weekend fixtures in sixth spot – six points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool, although they do have two games in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Petr Cech, Lucas Perez, Santo Cazorla, Mathieu Debuchy and Yaya Sanogo are all injured for the home side while Pep Guardiola has a host of concerns as Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna, Kevin de Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus are all currently sidelined.
