The 2016/17 La Liga season finally draws to a close this weekend where we will see either Real Madrid or Barcelona crowned champions once more.
Whatever happens between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo on Wednesday night (Real’s game in hand on Barcelona), the title race will still go down to the wire but it could be advantage Real Madrid providing they avoid defeat to Vigo.
Real Madrid’s final match of the season is away to Malaga who have hit form towards the end of the season.
Four wins in their last five has lifted head coach Míchel’s men from the bottom half of mid table to the cusp of the top half of the table.
The Anchovies will be eager to end the season on a high and could be the team that decides the destination of the La Liga title.
Real Madrid will still confident of collecting the three points at 4/21 and if Zinedine Zidane’s men beat Celta Vigo, then a draw against Malaga will do it at 6/1 with us.
Barcelona know that only victory against Eibar on Sunday night will suffice. With home advantage, Barcelona will be confident of collecting the three points at 1/25.
However, Eibar are guaranteed to end the campaign in their highest ever league position even if they lose at the Camp Nou.
It is unlikely either side will hold back but Barcelona should be too strong for Eibar who thoroughly deserve the plaudits they have earned this season.
Then it is fingers crossed in the Barce camp that Malaga can provide Barcelona with the biggest of favours and beat Real Madrid.
The race for fifth place is separated by just one point with Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad sat just the point behind Villarreal in fifth.
If Villarreal beat Valencia on Sunday afternoon, then it matters not what the other two do and despite Valencia holding home advantage are 5/4 to get the job done.
Athletic Bilbao face the arduous task of a trip to face Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderón Stadium.
Atletico are guaranteed third place and another season of Champions League football and may be forgiven for taking foot off the gas a little.
That may allow Bilbao in to snatch the win at 12/5 with Comeon!
Real Sociedad’s assault on fifth place means they will have to win at Celta Vigo on Sunday afternoon if they are to have any hope of securing it.
Vigo have gone off the boil in recent weeks after prioritising the Europa League. Unfortunately for Eduardo Berizzo’s men, they were knocked out of the Semi-finals by Manchester united.
That seems to have sunk Vigo and Sociedad are 20/27 to get the away win with us.
Real Madrid face a tough trip to Malaga on the final day of the season knowing that even a draw may be enough if they can overcome Celta Vigo on Wednesday night.
A draw is a likely result with Malaga boasting four wins in their last five matches. You can get a stalemate at 6/1 with us.
