There are a couple of games from across Europe taking place this evening but I’m going to focus on a Midlands derby in the Championship as Birmingham City host Wolves.
Blues spent big over the summer and went into the season with high expectations but things haven’t quite worked out for them yet. Steve Cotterill’s side go into this game in the relegation zone after results went against them over the weekend having managed just five points from the last 21 available.
Despite their struggles Birmingham’s home form hasn’t been too bad as they have won three of their last five at St Andrew’s, with all three of those 1-0 successes.
However, table toppers Wolves have been on fire of late and they go to Birmingham seeking a sixth successive victory. The Molineux club made a statement with a 4-1 win over Leeds and backed that up with a 5-1 thumping of Bolton, and I’m expecting them to win with some room to spare this evening.
Wolves are 5/7 to claim the win but the 19/10 on an away win with a -1 handicap is my top bet for this match-up. I had a bit of success with handicap bets over the weekend thanks to Everton and Chelsea and Nuno Santos’ men have won all of their previous five games by at least a two-goal margin, and they can continue that streak at Birmingham today.
In the NBA tonight Brooklyn Nets are worth a mention at 11/10 to win at Atlanta Hawks. The Nets have managed two wins in their last three away games, losing only to in-form Houston Rockets during that time, while the Hawks have lost nine of their last 11 at the Philips Arena.
