Atalanta host Lyon in the final round of Europa League group stage fixtures this evening and the Italian outfit can secure top spot with a win.
Both sides are level on 11 points and a draw would be enough for Atalanta to finish at the top of the pile but their performances in Europe so far suggest they can finish the job with a victory.
La Dea have been in mixed form in Serie A and they have just one win in their last five but during that time they made a huge statement in Europe with a 5-1 thrashing of Everton at Goodison Park.
There is a feeling Atalanta have prioritised their European campaign, and so far they remain unbeaten in the Europa League and have won both of their group games in Italy – scoring three goals in both matches.
Atalanta have only lost once in Bergamo this season and that defeat came at the hands of Roma back in August. The Serie A side have managed to hold Juventus to a draw at the Mapei Stadium already this term and can extend their unbeaten run on home soil to 10-games with a win over Lyon.
Les Gones will be tough to beat but as they have also already qualified manager they may lack a little motivation, and manager Bruno Genesio could opt to make a few changes as they are currently second in Ligue 1 and will want to push for Champions League football for next season.
