United aim to clip Robins’ wings

Manchester United will hope to avoid becoming the fourth Premier League side to fall victim to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup this season when the two sides meet at Ashton Gate.

The Robins, who are also right in the promotion hunt in the Championship, have already seen off Watford, Stoke City and Crystal Palace and will be full of confidence when the Red Devils arrive in the West Country on Wednesday evening.

However, City boss Lee Johnson is aware that United represent another step up in class, a fact signified by his side being 4/1 to knock the visitors out.

United could give opportunities to the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba – available after a three-match ban – with boss Jose Mourinho certain to make his side tough to beat.

Therefore 6/5 for a United clean sheet and 15/2 for the men from Manchester to win 1-0 in 90 minutes both have plenty of merit.

However, do bear in mind that United have only kept one clean sheet in their last six games, with Mourinho having had to juggle his defensive options due to injuries.

Meanwhile, at Stamford Bridge, Bournemouth also face a major task as they aim to overcome Chelsea and reach the last four.

The Cherries have lost all four of their last four meetings with the Blues, with Eden Hazard the man to do a lot of the damage – scoring five times in those four games.

He is 11/10 to score at any time on Wednesday, with Pedro also a decent option at 7/4.

The visitors are 5/1 to progress past the Blues and they seem likely to be without striker Joshua King due to a hamstring problem, although boss Eddie Howe hopes to have Callum Wilson back in the fold after knee trouble.

Wilson has only made nine appearances so far this season, but he has scored four times in those outings and will be desperate to prove a point should he feature against the Blues.

He is 16/5 to score at any time, having not found the net since a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town almost exactly a month ago.

Bournemouth have suffered ten losses in all competitions so far this season, with seven of those defeats coming by a single goal, so Chelsea at 15/2 to win 1-0 or 33/4 to win 2-1 also seem worthy of consideration.
