League leaders Napoli head to Crotone in the first game from the final round of Serie A fixtures in 2017 and they should be able to ensure they enter the new year at the top of the table with a win.
Crotone pulled off a remarkable escape last season to avoid the drop and have been more competitive this season although they are still fighting it out at the wrong end.
Napoli endured a difficult start to December but are now back in form and head to the Stadio Ezio Scida seeking a fourth successive victory.
Crotone did manage an important win over Chievo in their last home game in a rare success. However, the hosts have lost six of their last seven and have conceded 14 goals during that time, scoring just twice themselves.
Unsurprisingly, Napoli are the heavy favourites, with the Partenopei 2/9 to claim all three points.
An away win to zero looks a solid call at 4/5 – given Crotone’s struggles for goals and the fact Napoli have managed clean sheets in two of their last four – but for a bit more value the handicap markets could be the best option for this Serie A fixture.
Crotone have really struggled against sides in the top seven this season, shipping four at Lazio last weekend, three against Juventus in November and being hit for five by both Sampdoria and Atalanta earlier in the campaign.
Napoli aren’t necessarily prolific scorers but have managed three in two of their last three games so a -2 handicap looks beatable for the visitors this evening and, at 33/20, is my top bet in this match.
