Liverpool take on Everton this evening in a Merseyside derby FA Cup tie and both teams have a few notable absentees.
The hosts are missing key attacking duo Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho but new-boy Virgil van Dijk could be involved after the defender’s switch from Southampton, while Everton have doubts over Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye.
The two sides played out a 1-1 Premier League draw at Anfield a few weeks ago during Sam Allardyce’s unbeaten run as Everton manager but since then the Goodison club have faltered and are winless in four, losing their last two.
Liverpool have been in good form with three successive wins and despite their injury absences they should be able to claim the local bragging rights this evening.
Salah and Coutinho are big misses, but with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke – who started at Burnley last time out – they still have plenty of attacking talent to call on.
A Liverpool win pays out at 2/5 but my top bet is the 2/1 on offer for a home win with both teams to score. Everton have been struggling for goals of late but Liverpool have conceded five in their last four games and I’m expecting chances at both ends this evening.
There are two Serie A fixtures this evening and in-form Udinese look good value at 6/4 to beat Chievo, The visitors have won six of their last seven, losing only to Napoli during that time, while Chievo have picked up just one point from the last 15 available.
