Daily Tips – Chelsea can claim first-leg advantage

Chelsea take on Arsenal in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup today and I’m expecting strong line-ups from both clubs.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger received heavy criticism for his weakened FA Cup team after they were dumped out of the competition by Nottingham Forest at the weekend, and he’ll be keen to avoid any further backlash.

The Frenchman would probably have put out close to his best XI regardless as this competition represents a good chance to get silverware. The same goes for Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte as the Premier League now looks out of reach for both this season.

Chelsea have an excellent record at Stamford Bridge and are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions since a loss to Manchester City back in September. They’ve won all nine of their domestic home games during that time and should be able to claim a first-leg advantage.

Arsenal do look excellent value at 15/4 although their away record form has been poor of late, with just one win in their last five games in all competitions on the road.

Chelsea have dominated this fixture in recent years, with five wins in the last six meetings between the two at Stamford Bridge, but Arsenal did claim a 0-0 draw to end their winning streak earlier this season.

Chelsea are 2/3 to claim the win while, for a bigger price, the 37/20 on a home win to zero is my top bet in this Carabao Cup clash.

Arsenal have managed just one goal in their last five trips to Stamford Bridge and the Blues defence has been on song in recent weeks, with four clean sheets in their last five games.
