Daily Tips – Saints can end away win wait

Southampton’s form has tailed off recently but they can end their long wait for a Premier League win on the road when they head to Watford today.

Saints haven’t won in eight games on their travels in the league – a run stretching back to September – but they did pick up a victory in the FA Cup at Championship side Fulham last time out.

Their four defeats in that time have come at sides currently in the top five and they’ve also drawn at Manchester United so it has been a really tough run and a trip to Vicarage Road looks a good opportunity to grab a much needed three points.

The Hornets have won just two of their last 10 games overall and at home their record isn’t much better, with only three home wins in 11 attempts so far in the Premier League.

Watford did manage a cup win over Bristol City in their last Vicarage Road fixture but prior to that they were beaten by Swansea and Huddersfield – and were lucky to claim a win over Leicester.

Southampton are 37/20 to secure a victory and at that price they look great value against a Watford side who have looked incredibly fragile in recent weeks.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield take on West Ham and a draw appeals at 21/10 and the 3/1 on Burnley to win at Crystal Palace looks well worth the risk in what should be a tight game.

The late fixture in Germany sees second placed Schalke at RB Leipzig, who sit fifth in the standings, and at 12/5 the away win stands out. The Royal Blues are unbeaten in six on their travels, picking up draws at both Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach in December, and can extend that run with a win at Leipzig today.
