The big Premier League game today is of course the Manchester derby as City can claim the title with a win over rivals United but I’m going to focus on a more modest fixture in search of a big price.
West Brom parted company with Alan Pardew earlier this week after a dismal run of results but in truth they already looked destined for the drop ahead of today’s clash with fellow strugglers Swansea.
The Swans have lost their last two games but those defeats came at the hands of Spurs and Man United, and they may be able to get back to winning ways at The Hawthorns this afternoon.
Pardew’s arrival didn’t give the Baggies any kind of boost and his exit may not either. Swansea have a poor away record with no wins since December but they have only lost two of their eight games since, and they look excellent value to claim what would be just a third away win in the league this season.
My top bet is the 49/20 on a Swansea win and if you are feeling a little braver the 11/2 on an away win with both teams to score stands out. Albion have lost their last five home games – including what were crucial relegation ‘six pointers’ against Huddersfield and Southampton – but they did at least score in all of those matches so we may well see a few goals at The Hawthorns today.
In one of the late games in Germany, Champions League chasers Schalke should be too strong for hosts Hamburg at 20/21, while a win to zero for the Royal Blues at 7/4 also appeals. Hamburg did claim a point at Stuttgart last time out but Schalke have won their last six in a row and are on course to finish in second spot in the Bundesliga.
