Bayern Munich hold a 2-1 lead over Sevilla ahead of tonight’s Champions League quarter-final second leg meeting at the Allianz Arena and the hosts should be able to book their last four spot fairly comfortably.
Bayern wrapped up the Bundesliga title at Augsburg over the weekend with a 4-1 win and are now free to focus solely on their cup commitments.
The German giants are in excellent form with just one defeat in their last 22 games in all competitions, winning 20 of those matches in a run stretching back to November.
Bayern haven’t lost at home all season and have won all of their Champions League games at the Allianz Arena by at least a two-goal margin, and it is hard to see an out-of-form Sevilla getting any kind of joy in Germany this evening.
The Sevillistas haven’t won since beating Manchester United in this competition nearly a month ago. Since that win at Old Trafford they’ve lost three and drawn one, although they were unlucky not to claim all three points when Barcelona visited the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sevilla have picked up a few impressive results on their travels in Europe, having beaten United and drawn with Liverpool, but an in-form Bayern fresh from their domestic title win may be too strong.
Bayern are 20/83 to win but as they’ve been rampant in their last two home games – successive 6-0 wins over Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund – we can be bolder in this one and the 6/4 on a home win with a -2 handicap is my top bet in this fixture.
Franck Ribery has looked good in recent weeks and was essentially rested at Augsburg as he only featured as a late substitute, and the veteran Frenchman appeals at 6/4 to score at anytime.
