Lazio head to Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League quarter finals this evening and I’m backing the Italian outfit to claim another win.
The Rome club won the first leg 4-2 and that two-goal advantage could be key as Salzburg know they need to score twice to have any chance of progressing.
Lazio have been in good scoring form of late with 12 goals in their last three games and arguably that number should be higher as they missed some good chances in a 2-1 win at Udinese last time out, with midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in particular guilty of wasting a couple of decent opportunities.
Salzburg are the runaway leaders in Austria’s top flight but they have lost their last two games, including that loss at Lazio, and may have hit a sticky patch at the wrong time. They are unbeaten at home domestically this season and they’ve managed some big results in Europe too – beating Marseille and Real Sociedad earlier in the competition before a 0-0 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the last round.
However, as they are chasing the game that could work in Lazio’s favour and the Serie A side represent good value at 39/20 to finish the job with a win. Salzburg have only failed to score in one of seven home games since winter break and as Lazio tend to struggle for clean sheets the 57/20 on an away win with both teams to score is my top bet in this Europa League quarter final second leg.
