The PGA Tour heads to Greensboro this week for the final PGA tournament before the start of the FedEx Cup play-offs and Billy Horschel looks primed to strike at the Wyndham Championship for the first time.
Billy Horschel to win @ 28/1
Horschel has started to rediscover his best form over the past couple of months and he recently finished tied-second at the Barbasol Championship, his second top-five finish of the season.
The American ended up in a share of 35th at the US PGA Championship at Bellerive last time out and he heads into this week’s event at Sedgefield Country Club with happy memories of the course, having finished tied-fifth in 2016.
The 31-year-old’s statistics on the PGA Tour this year make for good reading. He is 30th on strokes gained: putting, 19th on strokes gained: off-the-tee, whilst he is 24th in the GIR department.
Horschel looks close to landing his sixth American title and a win would see him catapulted up the FedEx Cup standings, in which he currently occupies 43rd position, ahead of The Northern Trust.
Webb Simpson to finish in top 5 @ 5/2
Simpson will tee it up in North Carolina safe in the knowledge he will be playing for the USA at the 2018 Ryder Cup, having secured the eighth and final automatic spot after the conclusion of the US PGA Championship.
Securing his place for the event against Europe at Le Golf National will be a huge weight off his shoulders and that should allow him to free up at a course he has enjoyed playing for almost a decade.
The American broke his PGA Tour duck by winning the tournament back in 2011 and he has since recorded a further two top-five finishes – in 2014 and 2017 – while top-10 results were added in 2010 and 2015.
Simpson, who landed The Players Championship this year, is number two on the tournament’s all-time money list and looks a good shout at 5/2 to finish in the top five this week.
