Expect late goal at Anfield

A look at the best bets for Tuesday’s Champions League games – a late goal looks on the cards when Liverpool host Napoli.

Liverpool v Napoli: Goal scored between 76th minute and full time @ 5/6

Liverpool must win (they may need to by two clear goals), while Napoli require at least a draw to guarantee progress. That means whatever the score after 75 minutes, someone is going to need a goal late on.

Ideally from this bet’s perspective, the game will be close, and as one side pushes, the other could potentially catch them on the break.

Stats also work in the bet’s favour – Liverpool have scored no fewer than 10 of their 34 Premier League goals in this period this season, while Napoli have bagged 11 (out of 32) in their Serie A games. Also, three of Liverpool’s five games in this competition have featured such a late goal, while it’s two for Napoli.

Red Star v PSG: Red Star & Draw in double-chance market @ 4/1

PSG know a victory will take them into the knockout stage here but the fact that the big-spenders’ berth in the last 16 is still in doubt says much about their campaign to date.

It’s been unconvincing and it should be remembered that the hosts – who were supposed to the group whipping boys – beat Liverpool on home soil and held Napoli, both without conceding. The Serbs still have something to play for too, a win being needed if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

They are 16/1 to win this game and 4/1 not to lose it. The latter certainly looks big with PSG hardly having a great record when the pressure has been on.

Brugge v Atletico: Atletico to win @ 4/6

Atletico need to win to ensure they finish top of the group. Stefan Savic is suspended and Lucas Hernandez injured but otherwise all the big guns have made the trip.

Brugge will finish third whatever the result with the only motivating factor for them being the potential for a seeding in the forthcoming Europa League draw.

They lost 2-1 to Waasland Beveren at the weekend, a side who had won just one of their previous 17 Belgian league games. It’s now just three wins in 13 for Brugge, who should be outclassed here.
