The last time a side outside of the ‘Big Six’ won the FA Cup was Wigan Athletic in 2013. Could this be the year for another surprise?

I think there are a few sides outside of that so-called ‘Big Six’ that will feel they have a chance of winning the competition. The big guns all have European distractions again from February so there’s a great chance for a longer shot winner.
If you’re one of that group of teams comfortably in mid table in the Premier League,  why not have a real go at winning the cup? Getting a bit of luck with the draw is always helpful, but a couple of wins and it could just open up for someone unexpected.
Your old side Arsenal have lower league opposition in the Third Round. Will they have any problems against Blackpool?
Arsenal have had a tricky few weeks, ever since losing to Southampton and then Spurs in the League Cup. Then there was the thumping at Liverpool. Yes they’ve won a couple since then but it still feels like they need a bit of a boost and I think Emery will pick a strong team for this tie, one that he’s confident will get the job done well.

Another lower league versus Premier League clash sees Woking host Watford on Sunday. Upset on the cards?

Some people might look at this one as a classic banana skin, but Watford are playing well at the moment and have got plenty of goals scorers in their squad. Javi Gracia may well make a few changes like he did in the Carabao Cup, but I’d still expect them to win on the day.
Woking 0-2 Watford – 11/2

And if you had to pick one upset in the FA Cup Third Round this weekend. What would it be?

I’ll go with Peterborough to win at Middlesbrough. It wouldn’t be the biggest FA Cup shock ever, but with Middlesbrough concentrating on promotion, I think the Posh could go and get a win there.
