CPL Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders

Caribbean Premier League T20 2021 – Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders – 23rd Match Preview

The race for playoff spots in the CPL 2021 is heating up. At this point, it looks like six victories will be enough to ensure a spot in the playoffs, while the last club to qualify will most likely do so with five wins and maybe some net run rate considerations.

Remember that the CPL has a semi-final and final structure, thus whether a club qualifies at position one or position four makes no impact.

The Barbados Royals will take on the Trinbago Knight Riders in the following encounter. The Royals are in last position with only two victories from seven games, while the Trinbago Knight Riders are in second place with four wins from seven games. On September 9, 2021, the match will be held at Warner Park in Basseterre, St. Kitts.

Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders Team Previews

Barbados Royals

In their last encounter, the Barbados Royals easily defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors, keeping their playoff qualifying chances alive. The Barbados Royals were able to reach a respectable total thanks to contributions from Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, Glenn Phillips, and Jason Holder.

In CPL 2021, the Royals have struggled with their hitting. It has been erratic, and it will face a difficult assignment against a quality TKR bowling team. A handful of metrics stand out in terms of betting.

So far in the competition, the Barbados Royals have only struck three individual fifties, with their highest individual score being 56 not out. Both of these tournaments have betting markets with attractive odds, which you should look into.

Mohammad Amir returned to the Royals’ lineup, but we’re not sure if he’s still at his best. In the powerplay, he has been unsuccessful in picking up wickets. Raymon Riefer has clearly been their finest bowler and is a strong contender for Top Bowler. Nyeem Young is also in excellent wicket-taking form.

Barbados Royals Squad

Chris Morris, Jason Holder (C), Thisara Perera, Mohammad Amir, Johnson Charles, Shai Hope, Oshane Thomas, Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh, Azam Khan, Raymon Reifer, Justin Greaves, Ashley Nurse, Shafiqullah Ghafari, Nyeem Young, Joshua Bishop, Smit Patel

In their most recent encounter, the Barbados Royals set a CPL 2021 record with their highest total. It worked nicely for them to promote Kyle Mayers to begin the batting order alongside Johnson Charles. They got off to a terrific start with both openers. Glenn Phillips (44) led the way with 44 points, while captain Jason Holder (22) was important.

All of the bowlers took wickets, which bodes well for the Royals in the CPL. Nyeem Young topped the event with three scalps, while Jake Lintott and Raymon Reifer each had two.

Predicted XI: Johnson Charles, Azam Khan, Smit Patel (wk), Glenn Phillips, Raymon Reifer, Jason Holder (C), Kyle Mayers, Nyeem Young, Ashley Nurse, Jake Lintott, Mohammad Amir.

Trinbago Knight Riders

After a poor start to the CPL 2021 season, the Trinbago Knight riders have recovered with two wins in their last two matches. The team, on the other hand, still has a lot of issues and cannot be counted on to win blindly.

The main issue has been batting, and while there has been some progress in the last two games, there is still a lot of work to be done. Lendl Simmons and Kieron Pollard have both scored runs recently, while Tim Seifert has been outstanding in the bottom order.

So far, the rest of the batsmen have struggled. This is evidenced by the fact that TKR has only scored two individual fifties in CPL 2021 thus far.

A handful of early wickets may put this batting order in jeopardy.

Bowling, on the other hand, has been excellent. Sunil Narine and Akeal Hossain have played every game and bowled their allotted overs in each. They are both handing up runs at a 4.39 economy rate, which is an amazing accomplishment in T20 cricket.

Ali Khan began his CPL campaign with a match-winning effort, and Ravi Rampaul has 17 wickets to his name. This well-rounded and in-form bowling assault provides TKR a significant advantage in this match.

Trinbago Knight Riders Squad

Kieron Pollard (C), Ravi Rampaul, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Sandeep Lamichhane, Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Khary Pierre, Isuru Udana, Sikandar Raza, Anderson Phillip, Denesh Ramdin, Tion Webster, Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, Leonardo Julien, Ali Khan

The Knight Riders got a shot in the arm when Lendl Simmons returned to form in their most recent game. With his 42 runs, he got them off to a strong start. Trinbago scored 167 runs against the Tallawahs thanks to skipper Kieran Pollard’s undefeated 19-ball 38, which was aided by Tim Seifert’s quickfire eight-ball 24.

With two wickets each, Ravi Rampaul and Sunil Narine maintained their dominance, while the other spinners, Akeal Hosein and Khary Pierre, also performed admirably. Ali Khan, on the other hand, was the true star with the ball. He took four wickets while allowing only six runs in three overs.

Predicted XI: Lendl Simmons, Leonardo Julien, Colin Munro, Kieron Pollard (C), Darren Bravo, Tim Seifert (WK), Sunil Narine, Khary Pierre, Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul, Ali Khan.

Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will choose to bat first. So far, this has been the more successful choice in CPL 2021.

Pitch and Weather Conditions

On match day, the weather in St. Kitts is anticipated to be pleasant and sunny. The pitch is flat, yet sluggish and has little bounce. This is something we’ve seen throughout, and it’s not going to change.

The spinners are difficult to score on, and while the boundaries are short, getting huge runs has been difficult.

A total of 150-160 points is fairly competitive.

Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders Match Prediction

We’re going to put our money on the Trinbago Knight Riders to win this game. They have a superior bowling attack than the Barbados Royals, which we believe will make the difference. The concern here is that neither team has batted consistently, which is where the Barbados Royals would be looking for TKR.

Trinbago Knight Riders is the favourite to win this match.
