Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals : BIG RUN GAMES || Indian Super League 2021 Match 2

Indian Super League 2021 Match 2

Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals – April 10th

Chennai Super Kings:

Chennai Super Kings had a dreadful last year as they collapsed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of IPL. With MS Dhoni approaching retirement, CSK is in the remodelling phase, and this season of IPL will be of immense significance for them before the planned mega-auction of 2022.

The Super Kings were culpable of missing intent last year, and with a batting roster that goes deep, we hope for them to play a strong brand of cricket this edition. With the likes of Thakur, Jadeja, Santner, Gowtham, and Moeen Ali, the Super Kings have lots of bowling selections that can be game shifting with the bat.

With an outstanding captain in MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings have never seemed a weak team, at least on paper. The same is the case this time, too, as they have an exceptional mix of youth and experience. They appeared over-aged and shaky on the field last year, but the reappearance of Raina and the addition of K Gowtham could be the lost spark they need.

Possible playing XI: Faf du Plessis, Robin Uthappa/Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni (C&WK), Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.

Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capitals were one of the improved teams last year, and their runners-up spot is proof enough of that. They were trounced by Mumbai Indians in the final last edition and will want to go one step further this time around. The Capitals gained the rewards of supporting their youngsters over the last few years, and with the Indian ability they have, they could be a solid team to deal with this year as well.

With Shreyas Iyer no longer obtainable, the Capitals’ side abruptly looks a little hollow in the middle. They badly need some experience in their middle-order and would, thus, need to choose their overseas performers rather meticulously.

All in all, there’s no lack of talent, strength, or experience at the Capitals, but they’ll need to get their stability right early in the contest. If they can do that, they’ll be a strength to reckon with yet again.

Possible playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant (C&WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Chris Woakes, Ravi Ashwin, Lalit Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane/Steve Smith, Ishant Sharma/Tom Curran and Umesh Yadav.

The venue, Pitch Report, and Toss Prediction:

Wankhede is one of the top-scoring grounds in the IPL. Although the average first innings total in 2019 was 176, teams have notched well above 200 on numerous occasions.

The speedsters should get some swing plus extra bounce early on, with the ball likely to slide on nicely to the bat. The size of the ground also favour the batsmen, making for good batting situations.

Dew should play a part later in the day. Spin bowlers might not get a lot of turn off the wicket, with the change of pace being vital on this pitch.

Both sides will preferably look to chase upon winning the toss. 175-185 is about par at this ground, but both sides will look to break the 200-run mark, given the batting firepower they possess.

Tops Value:

While the two sides had different runs last year, both teams will be filled with confidence after completing their constraints in the auction. Chennai Super Kings plugged all the rifts that were there last year and should do a lot better this season.

Just when it looked that Delhi Capitals are complete, Shreyas Iyer’s injury may well turn out to be a disappointment for them. It has taken away their impeccable equilibrium, which they’ll have to find swiftly.

Chennai is at 2.10, while Delhi is at 1.71. On paper, Chennai Super Kings seem to be a well-composed team between the two. Moreover, they have class and experience oozing right through their roster. For those rationales and the ones listed above, we’ll be placing our bets on CSK’s win, and so should you.
