Indian Super League 2021 Match 7

Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals – April 15th

Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals haven’t had the greatest of starts to IPL 2021. Injury worries and a heart-rending defeat to the Punjab Kings in their first IPL 2021 match have hit them hard. Ben Stokes has also been ruled out of the IPL to increase insult to the Royals’ wounds, given Jofra Archer is already not present.

Sanju Samson must have felt ill about playing one of the finest knocks ever seen in the IPL record, only to end up on the losing squad. Samson did, however, take away the man-of-the-match award, a rarity for somebody on the losing team, but it won’t have been much relief.

Nevertheless, Rajasthan has a pretty good squad, with David Miller and Liam Livingstone eyeing for a team spot. Although their bowling line-up did look a touch underwhelming, the Royals will fancy their prospects on Thursday.

Possible playing XI: Manan Vohra, Jos Buttler, Shivam Dube, Liam Livingstone/David Miller,  Chris Morris, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Sanju Samson (C&WK),  Mustafizur Rahman, Shreyas Gopal and Chetan Sakariya.

Delhi Capitals:

IPL 2020 second-placed Delhi began their IPL 2021 campaign in fine fashion. They thrashed the Chennai Super Kings, credits to a blitzing opening partnership between Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan.

Although they were devoid of a few prime players, the Capitals never really dropped a beat during the game. Nevertheless, the return of Kagiso Rabada should add some much-required firepower to their bowling line-up, holding them in a good position. Arnich Nortje has been ruled out of the game, having tested positive for covid-19. The presence of skipper Rishabh Pant in the batting order will be crucial for DC against RR.

Possible playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant (C&WK), Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Ajinkya Rahane,   Avesh Khan, Tom Curran and Amit Mishra/Umesh Yadav.

The venue, Pitch Report, and Toss Prediction:

A high-scoring match is on the cards to witness, with the average first innings score being 205 in IPL 2021. There isn’t much on offer for the bowlers as the ball is sliding on smoothly onto the bat. The turf’s size hasn’t helped them either, with the batters targeting the square areas.

The spin bowlers will need to be skillful with their lengths and lines as there is no movement on offer. With dew also playing a factor, both sides might look to go with a pace-heavy roster.

Tops Value:

Delhi Capitals is at the pre-match odds of 1.64, whereas Rajasthan Royals trail at the odds of 2.20. No wonder the previous matches have made such an impact on the odds. However, we don’t buy the gap in these odds.

Rajasthan almost pulled off an absolute stunner, and Delhi cruised through their win comfortably. Mumbai is a high-notching venue, as we know. That could genuinely suit Rajasthan, who seem less well composed to win tight cricket matches based on innovative team strategies, excellent fielding and consciousness of the pitch and conditions.
