Indian Super League 2020-21 Match 3

FC Goa vs. Bengaluru FC – Sun, 22nd November

ISL 2020-21 Match Prediction

The Indian Super League (ISL 2020-21) seventh season has begun this Friday, and FC Goa takes on Bengaluru FC in the third match at Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Sunday 22nd November. FC Goa is the host, and for the “away” side in this opener, this is the beginning of a new chapter.

Head to head; these two teams have played seven matches in the history of ISL. Bengaluru FC has prominently dominated the battle by winning five games, four more than the solo win by FC Goa. Our ISL Match Prediction claims, Bengaluru FC, under head coach former Spanish Football Coach Carles Cuadrat, will win this season’s third match against FC Goa.

Bengaluru FC will win this game.

Team Preview

FC Goa has shown undistinguished consistency ever since their outset. This unremarkable consistency was well-rewarded last season, though, as FC Goa became the first Indian club to secure a spot in the AFC Champions League.

They could not lift the ISL trophy last season, as they lost to Chennaiyin FC in the semifinals. However, the two-time finalists will be hoping to make it third time fortunate, as they begin this season under new manager Juan Ferrando. FC Goa has seen some significant exits from their squad during the summer.  Hugo Boumous, Mourtada Fall, Ahmed Jahouh, and Mandar Rao Dessai moved to Mumbai City FC and head-coach Sergio Lobera.

The FC Goa management has done exceptionally well to rebuild their camp with a mix of youth and experience. Foreign players, like Ivan Gonzalez, James Donachie, Alberto Noguera, and Jorge Ortiz, will be critical in Goa’s success. The young but experienced Mohammad Nawaz will be the best choice for the goalkeeper. Goa has a decent squad depth with talents like Sanson Pereira, Saviour Gama, and Aiban Dohling, who may also be used as utility substitutions. With so much going on for them, there is no doubt that FC Goa will get a lot of attention this time season.

The former champions’ crusade was cut short in the playoffs in the 2019-20 season, but the longstanding playoff contenders will once again enter the competition as one of the overwhelming picks. Bengaluru FC has managed to retain most of their core group of players, including Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Ashique Kuruniyan, Erik Paartalu, Udanta Singh, and Emanuel Lalchhanchhuaha.

Bengaluru FC side has picked up highly-rated Brazilian winger Cleiton Silva. The Thai League’s all-time top scorer is renowned for his dribbling capability and fast pace. They have also secured the versatile Spaniard Fran Gonzalez, who can play the midfield and defense. Their prolific captain Sunil Chhetri will continue to be their good luck for the fourth straight year. Bengaluru FC has a plethora of options in defensive midfield. However, with an eye on the balance of play, Charles Cuadrat may go with just one defensive midfielder in the likes of Erik Paartulu.

We predict a narrow win for the guests in this third game of a season unlike any other, which will be played behind closed doors in Goa.
