ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Ireland vs Netherlands – 3rd Match, Group A

The Netherlands and Ireland are in the same group for the first round of T20 World Cup 2021 matches. They also have Sri Lanka in their group, so if everything goes as planned, only one of Ireland or the Netherlands will be able to advance to the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. As a result, the match between Ireland and the Netherlands is critical.

We have been closely following both of these teams in the run-up to the World Cup, and we believe there are a number of good betting opportunities in this match. Let us try to investigate some of them.

The match will take place on October 18, 2021, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Ireland vs Netherlands Team Previews

Ireland (Match Odds – 1.75)

Unfortunately, Ireland’s cricket team has not shown the kind of improvement that could have been expected. It is now a full-member Test playing country, but it is still regularly defeated by associate nations.

Ireland was defeated 2-1 in a T20 series by the UAE just a few days before the start of the T20 World Cup. Ireland struggles in spin-friendly conditions, which is exactly what is expected in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Almost all of Ireland’s batting challenge will come from their top three. Kevin O’Brien, Paul Stirling, and Andrew Balbirnie are the cast members. Ireland lacks depth, and while there are some promising players in the squad, such as Harry Tector, Gareth Delany, Curtis Camphor, and George Dockrell, we don’t believe they will win many games for Ireland.

Bowlers to keep an eye on are Joshua Little and Craig Young. Little, in particular, excels with the new ball and can be difficult to score against. T20 cricket is Ireland’s weakest format, and starting against a dangerous Netherlands team would be nerve-racking.

Ireland T20 Squad

Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, Neil Rock (wk), Simi Singh, Mark Adair, Craig Young, Joshua Little, Kevin O Brien, Andy McBrine, Benjamin White, Lorcan Tucker

Predicted XI: Paul Stirling, Kevin O Brian, Andrew Balbirnie (c), Gareth Delany, Curtis Campher/Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Simi Singh, Mark Adair, Andy McBrine, Simi Singh, Ben White

Netherlands (Match Odds – 2.10)

The Netherlands has recently grown into one of the strongest associate nations, and it will undoubtedly look to make a mark in the T20 World Cup. Many of the players named to the squad play on the English County Circuit, so they are no strangers to high-level cricket.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, has not played a match in the UAE in recent weeks in order to acclimate to the conditions. That could be viewed as a significant disadvantage.

The Netherlands has a very dangerous batting lineup, in our opinion. The squad includes Max O’Dowd, Colin Ackerman, Bas de Leede, Stephan Myburgh, and Ryan Ten Doeschate. They are capable of getting runs quickly and clearing the boundaries on a regular basis.

The Netherlands’ bowling department is also quite good. Fred Klaassen, Logan van Beek, and Timm van der Gugten are all skilled, experienced, and dangerous. They will understand the significance of getting an early wicket and will attack the Irish batsmen with vigour.

Roelof van der Merwe is also a very experienced spinner who simply ups his game in high-pressure situations.

Netherlands T20 Squad

Stephan Myburgh, Max ODowd, Ben Cooper, Colin Ackermann, Pieter Seelaar (c), Ryan ten Doeschate, Bas de Leede, Scott Edwards (wk), Roelof van der Merwe, Logan van Beek, Fred Klaassen, Philippe Boissevain, Paul van Meekeren, Brandon Glover, Timm van der Gugten

Predicted XI: Stephen Myburgh, Max O Dowd, Ben Cooper, Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards, Logan Van Beek, Fred Klassen/Paul van Merkaran, Tim Van Der Gugten, Pieter Seelaar, Roelof Van Der Merwe

Ireland vs Netherlands Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will most likely want to field first. We saw in IPL 2021 how the chasing teams had a distinct advantage, and both teams will be aware of this.

To Win the Toss – Ireland – 1.85

To Win the Toss – Netherlands – 1.85

Pitch and Weather Conditions

Batting conditions are expected to be favourable in Abu Dhabi. The pitch does slow down slightly as the game progresses, but the surface is actually better than what we saw at the start of the IPL. A score of around 170 can be seen as achievable by both the batting team and the chasing team. Getting runs in the powerplay is critical because the last six overs may be ineffective.

Ireland vs Netherlands Match Prediction

We’re going to bet on Ireland to win this game. When it comes to T20 cricket, we don’t think there’s much of a difference between Ireland and the Netherlands. It all comes down to individual performances on the day, which is why we’re going to chase the odds.

Ireland is the favorites to beat Netherlands at the odds of 1.75.

  • Ireland has competed in the last five editions, missing out only on the inaugural edition, and has a 3-9 win-loss record.
  • Ireland’s batting is top-heavy, and a collapse always seems to be on the horizon.
  • The Netherlands has a 7-4 win-loss record against Scotland in T20Is, with two victories in both T20I World Cup meetings.
