ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Scotland vs Papua New Guinea – 5th Match, Group B

Scotland kicked off the T20 World Cup 2021 in spectacular fashion, defeating Bangladesh after a famous comeback from 58-6. That almost guarantees them a spot in the Super-12, but the job isn’t done yet.

Papua New Guinea, who started their match against Oman promisingly but faded as their lack of experience showed, stands in their way for this match. Can PNG pull off a surprise this time?

On October 19, 2021, the match will be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) in Al Amerat.

Scotland vs Papua New Guinea Team Previews

Scotland (Match Odds – 1.15)

Scotland will be pleased with how it recovered from a difficult situation, but it will not be pleased with how it came to be in that situation in the first place. Their batsmen’s lack of understanding of the conditions put them in a lot of trouble, and they will hope to improve on that.

Players like George Munsey and Richie Berrington, in our opinion, are good bets for the Top Batsman Scotland betting market. They are not only good spinners, but they have also been the best performers for Scotland for quite some time.

We’ve all heard the incredible storey of Chris Greaves, who rose from being an Amazon delivery man to being the hero of Scotland’s victory over Bangladesh. He is a good all-rounder who can hit the ball well and should be in the bowling attack.

You should be able to find some good betting odds for his performance in this match, and we recommend that you take advantage of them.

A strong bowling attack is led by Safyaan Sharif and Bradley Wheal. Mark Watt is Scotland’s death-over specialist and could be a good bet in the Top Bowler or To Pick 2+ Wickets betting markets.

Scotland T20 Squad

George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Matthew Cross (wk), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Josh Davey, Safyaan Sharif, Bradley Wheal, Dylan Budge, Craig Wallace, Alasdair Evans, Hamza Tahir

Predicted XI: George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Matthew Cross (wk), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Josh Davey, Safyaan Sharif, Bradley Wheal

Papua New Guinea (Match Odds – 5.50)

PNG will need to perform significantly better to pull off an upset against Scotland, and unfortunately for them, we don’t see that happening. PNG’s batting is well-intentioned, but it falls short when it comes to execution.

Tony Ura, Assad Vala, and Charles Amini are all capable players. They can all bat well and hit big shots, but we doubt their ability to deliver match after match. The rest of the batting order appears to be very weak, and a collapse is never far away.

PNG’s bowling failed to take a single wicket against Oman, which is not encouraging. They have a decent collection of medium pacers and finger spinners who could do better against Scotland than Oman, which isn’t saying much!

We recommend staying away from betting markets that cater to PNG players.

Papua New Guinea T20 Squad

Tony Ura, Lega Siaka, Assad Vala (c), Charles Amini, Sese Bau, Norman Vanua, Simon Atai, Kiplin Doriga (wk), Damien Ravu, Kabua Morea, Nosaina Pokana, Chad Soper, Jason Kila, Hiri Hiri, Gaudi Toka

Predicted XI: Tony Ura, Assad Vala (c), Charles Amini, Lega Siaka, Norman Vanua, Sese Bau, Simon Atai, Kiplin Doriga (wk), Nosaina Pokana, Damien Ravu, Kabua Morea

Scotland vs Papua New Guinea Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will prefer to bat first. Chasing is the best option because dew is expected to settle as the match progresses, but the evening match negates the dew factor slightly. Even so, both captains will prefer chasing.

To Win the Toss – Scotland – 1.85

To Win the Toss – Papua New Guinea – 1.85

Pitch and Weather Conditions

Oman’s batting conditions are expected to be favourable. Because the pitch is a little slow and scoring becomes difficult in the second half, the team batting first may have a significant advantage. Getting a quick start and runs in the powerplay will be critical. A score of around 140 should be considered average.

Scotland vs Papua New Guinea Match Prediction

We’re betting on Scotland to win this game. They have a lot of momentum and have proven to be a very good T20 team. They have the upper hand over PNG in every aspect of the game.

Scotland is the favorites to beat Papua New Guinea at the odds of 1.15.

  • In their first match, Scotland defeated Bangladesh by a score of 6 runs.
  • In the tournament opener, PNG was defeated by Oman by a margin of ten wickets.
  • So far, Scotland has won both T20I matches against PNG.
