South Africa U19 (Match Odds – 3.35)

South Africa’s chances of success on home soil were dashed by eventual winners Bangladesh in the quarter-finals two years ago, but a talented squad will hope to compete for honours in the Caribbean.

Dewald Brevis, an all-rounder, shone for the Proteas youngsters in the CSA Provincial T20 Knockout competition in October, his batting style drawing comparisons to AB de Villiers, and his leg-spin caused West Indies plenty of problems in a recent warm-up series against the home nation.

South Africa’s left-arm spinner Asakhe Tsaka and captain George van Heerden will also hope to make names for themselves in the coming weeks as they seek a second ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy. South Africa U19’s key batter is George Van Heerden, who will also serve as the team’s wicketkeeper. He hit 61* in the warm-up game against the Windies and could be the match-winner in this one.

Matthew Boast shone in the previous warm-up game against the West Indies U19 team. He took three crucial wickets while allowing only nine runs in four overs, including one maiden.

Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada led a memorable triumph eight years ago, and the current crop will be confident of following in their footsteps.

South Africa U19 Squad

John Cunningham, Valintine Kitime, Dewald Brevis, GJ Maree, George Van Heerden (c & wk), Andile Simelane, Mickey Copeland, Matthew Boast, Liam Alder, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Kwena Maphaka, Asakhe Tshaka, Jade Smith, Kaden Solomon, Joshua Stephenson

Predicted XI: Kaden Solomons, Ethan Cunningham, Valentine Kitime, Dewald Brevis, Matthew Boast, George van Heerden (c & wk), Michael Copeland, Jon Coetzer, Liam Alder, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Andile Simelane

Pitch and Weather Conditions

The pitch at this venue appears to be neutral. On this pitch, both the batters and the bowlers must be at their best. It is expected that as the game progresses, it will become slower and start assisting the spinners as well. A total of 250 or more will suffice here.

Throughout the IND-U19 vs SA-U19 game at Providence Stadium, the weather will be unpredictable. The morning will be cloudy with scattered thunderstorms, but the rest of the day will be sunny with a few clouds. The temperature will be in the 25-30 degree Celsius range.

India U19 vs South Africa U19 Match Prediction

In their warm-up matches, India U19 has been dominant in every aspect. They batted well in the first game to post a large total, which they then defended against the West Indies. Against Australia, the batters performed admirably in the second innings, easily chasing the score down. Meanwhile, South Africa U19 has performed admirably with the ball. Despite their victory, their batters appeared to struggle a little. It will be difficult for them to compete against a quality Indian attack. Nonetheless, India U19 appears to have an advantage over their opponents in this match.

India U19 is the favourite to beat South Africa U19 at the odds of 1.33.
