India Tour of England 2022 – England vs India – 1st ODI Prediction

India defeated England 2-1 in the T20 series and now has a chance to further its white-ball ambitions in the ODI series. The ODI format appears to be the least important of all the formats right now. The ODI World Cup is over a year away, and all teams are focused on the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Does this imply that teams will examine the ODIs in isolation and perhaps experiment a little more? We believe India will use the ODIs to send a message about its new attacking philosophy, perhaps tempered slightly from the T20s.

Jos Buttler will also want to get off to a better start as captain in ODIs than he did in T20s.

The 1st ODI between England vs India will take place on July 12th, 2022 at Kennington Oval in London.

England vs India Team Previews

England (Match Odds – 1.80)

England’s ODI squad is full, and a number of its in-form players will be available for selection once more. Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes are all in the squad and will almost certainly make the starting eleven.

This immediately adds batting strength to the lineup, which was lacking in the T20s. We expect Root and Bairstow to score runs in this match as well, picking up where they left off in the Tests.

Jason Roy will open the batting with Bairstow, but he is currently out of form. We would avoid betting on him in this match. With Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Moeen Ali all set to play, the batting is once again strong and powerful.

Bowlers like Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson, David Willey, and Craig Overton could make the final eleven. Almost all of these bowlers are also capable batters, emphasizing England’s batting strength once more.

The ability to pick wickets, the variety of the bowling unit, and the options in the lineup with plenty of all-rounders are all noteworthy.

England Squad

Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (wk/c), Moeen Ali, David Willey, Brydon Carse, Matthew Parkinson, Reece Topley, Craig Overton, Sam Curran, Philip Salt, Harry Brook

Predicted XI: Jason Roy, Johnny Bairstow, Joe Root, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, David Willey, Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson

India (Match Odds – 2.00)

India will be pleased with its results in the T20 format, and according to Rohit Sharma, this new attacking philosophy will be carried over to the ODIs as well. According to Rohit Sharma, ODIs are simply an extension of the T20 format. A novel approach that could be extremely entertaining to watch.

India’s batting lineup is nearly complete. Shikhar Dhawan will bat first, followed by Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer/Suryakumar Yadav, Rishab Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja. Sky’s performance in the last T20 makes it difficult to leave him out, but Shreyas Iyer had the spot and scored a decent amount of runs prior to him.

Another question that needs to be answered is whether Hardik will bowl regularly in ODIs as well.

Mohammad Shami, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Jasprit Bumrah will be the four bowlers. This is a massive bowling unit that could be switched out as the series progresses.

Hardik Pandya is back to his best for India, and he, along with Ravindra Jadeja, provides a lot of balance to the Indian lineup. There is batting depth and six bowling options. Also, the bowling unit performed admirably against England in swinging conditions, and the current crop of bowlers has the potential to do so.

The absence of big runs from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be a major source of concern. Both of these players are most at ease in the ODI format, where they can afford to take their time before teeing off. We won’t bet on them scoring runs just yet, but it appears that Virat Kohli’s place in the team has never been more threatened in his career.

India Squad

Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh

Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravi Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna

England vs India Toss Prediction

Chasing has recently been the preferred option for teams in white ball matches, and we expect this trend to continue in this match unless the surface has a lot of cracks and dryness.

To Win the Toss – England – 1.85

To Win the Toss – India – 1.85

Pitch and Weather Conditions

Kennington Oval is a pacer-friendly surface with some pitch movement for faster bowlers. As the ball loses its luster, the pitch may slow down and make batting easier. In this match, we can expect a score of 260-280 runs.

The weather in London is expected to be bright and sunny, with only a 10% chance of rain, and weather disruptions are not expected in this game.

England vs India Match Prediction

We’re betting on England to win. In terms of batting strength, we believe their returning players give them an advantage. The form of India’s top ODI batters is deteriorating, and the pressure will be on. A higher-risk strategy could also backfire in the ODI format, or be much more difficult to execute.

England is the favourite to beat India at the odds of 1.80.

  • England’s lineup will be strengthened by the additions of Root, Bairstow, and Stokes.
  • On paper, India’s batting is strong, but its best batters are struggling for runs.
  • Both teams have a strong bowling attack and should balance each other out.
