India Tour of England 2022 – England vs India – 2nd T20I Prediction

India kicked off the T20 series against England with a bang. It took the right approach while batting, its starting all-rounder appears to be in top form, and now senior players from the Test team will join the T20 side. In many ways, this influx of players will pose many questions and selection headaches for India.

England, on the other hand, would probably be scratching their heads. They were favorites going into the first T20, but they were completely outplayed. Is it true that one poor performance makes them a bad team? We don’t believe so.

The 2nd T20I between England vs India will take place on July 9th, 2022 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

England vs India Team Previews

England (Match Odds – 2.00)

England would like to dismiss the first T20 international as an instance in which nothing they did worked. Their best two players, Buttler and Livingstone, did not score a single run, and their bowling attack did not benefit from the conditions as much as the Indian bowlers did.

This does not, however, make England a weak team. It simply had a bad day. England has a distinct advantage in terms of batting depth. It has Sam Curran at number seven, who is far superior to India’s number seven (Axar Patel), and Chris Jordan at number eight, who is also quite handy with the bat.

The big question here will be how Jos Buttler performs in this match. His importance to England’s batting lineup cannot be overstated, and his battle against Bhvneshwar Kumar will be crucial. Buttler has been dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar four times in eight matches, with three of those dismissals coming when he was in single figures.

In the previous match, England struggled against Chahal and Axar, and Livingstone’s role in bringing them down will be critical as well. After the previous match, England’s batting appears vulnerable, and while it is more powerful and has more depth than India’s batting, the players must translate that potential into performance.

In the previous match, India completely destroyed England’s bowling. With his hard lengths and wide lines outside off, only Chris Jordan escaped the punishment. If England can take early wickets without taking too much punishment, India will be vulnerable.

England’s bowling lacks the extra pace and mystery spin that it would have normally had. This makes it much more ‘hittable,’ and thus vulnerable, in T20 cricket.

England Squad

Jason Roy, Jos Buttler (wk/c), Dawid Malan, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson, David Willey, Philip Salt, Richard Gleeson

Predicted XI: Jason Roy, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills/Richard Gleeson, Reece Topley, Matthew Parkinson

India (Match Odds – 1.80)

India won the previous match with a team that was largely the same as the one that faced Ireland. It will now welcome back Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishab Pant. This is a problem that teams would love to have, but it does raise a number of selection issues.

Even though his form isn’t the best, Virat Kohli will be in the starting lineup. Will he replace Deepak Hooda, who has been in fantastic form and has shown the type of aggression required at three, or will he replace Ishan Kishan?

Wherever he plays, the pressure will be on him to attack from the start, particularly against spinners. We’ve been betting against Kohli for a while now, and it’s been quite profitable. We intend to use the same strategy in this match as well.

We don’t think Shreyas Iyer makes the starting eleven, but Rishab Pant could get a chance. This could be in place of Dinesh Karthik or a bowler if India believes Hardik and Hooda can bowl the required four overs. If a bowler must be sacrificed, it’s difficult to imagine anyone other than Axar Patel missing out.

That could force Hardik Pandya to drop a spot to accommodate Pant at 5, which would be bad news given his current form.

Finally, with Bumrah available, Arshdeep will miss out, despite his impressive debut.

India has no choice but to give its senior players a chance before moving on to younger players. There is no doubt, however, that the pressure on India’s senior leaders is greater than it has ever been.

With so many potential changes, India’s final eleven will be unknown until the coin toss. Avoid betting on player-specific or role-specific markets and instead concentrate on team-based betting markets.

Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan/Deepak Hooda, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravi Jadeja, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal

England vs India Toss Prediction

With calm batting conditions, chasing is the best option, and no target is safe in these conditions. Both captains will put the opposing batters to bat early on this track.

To Win the Toss – England – 1.85

To Win the Toss – India – 1.85

Pitch and Weather Conditions

Birmingham is a batting paradise and a bowler’s nightmare. The pitch may help bowlers as the game progresses by slowing down significantly. In this match, we can expect a run feast of 190-200 runs.

Weather in Birmingham is expected to be bright and sunny, with only a 10% chance of rain, and weather disruptions are not expected in this game.

England vs India Match Prediction

Both teams’ batting units will go on the offensive and try to pile on the runs. India has a slightly better batting line-up than England due to their strong middle order. India’s bowling attack has more experience in the pace and spin bowling departments, giving them an advantage. England’s bowling unit lacks an attacking spinner and good death bowlers. We believe India will win this match.

India is the favourite to beat England at the odds of 1.80.

  • India has won the last three bilateral T20I series with England.
  • Rohit Sharma has won 13 T20Is in a row as captain and would like to keep the streak going.
  • In the last five matches, India has a 4-1 win-loss record against England.
