India Tour of Ireland 2022 – Ireland vs India – 1st T20I Match Prediction

Ireland and India will begin an exciting summer for the Irish team. The first game of the two-match T20I series is set to begin at 9:00 p.m. on June 26th at Castle Avenue in Dublin. This is India’s second trip to Ireland. At the same venue in 2018, India won a two-match T20I series against the hosts. The series will be part of Ireland’s long summer, as they will host New Zealand, South Africa, and New Zealand following India.

Both teams have met three times in the past. India defeated Ireland by 8 wickets while chasing 113 runs in the 2009 ICC World T20. They returned to Ireland for a two-match series nine years later. Batting first, India scored 200+ runs in both games and easily defeated Ireland to take the series 2-0. With six wickets, Yuzi Chahal was named series MVP.

The 1st T20I between Ireland vs India will take place on June 26th, 2022 at Castle Avenue in Dublin.

Ireland vs India Team Previews

Ireland (Match Odds – 7.40)

Following a successful domestic season, Ireland has included uncapped Stephen Doheny and Conor Olphert in the 14-man squad. Doheny finished the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy with 158 runs at an average of 52.67. With Paul Sterling and under-fire skipper Andrew Balbirnie, he can be an excellent addition to Ireland’s top-order. Stirling scored 116 runs at a strike rate of 111.53 in the Qualifiers, making him Ireland’s leading run-scorer. Balbirnie scored 100 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 128.20. However, he has a strike rate of 144.52 at this venue. Gareth Delany, the batting all-rounder, will serve as an anchor at the top. He has played 37 T20I games, scoring 694 runs at a strike rate of 136.07.

In the middle, Harry Tector, wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker, and Andy McBrine are the best options. Tector has scored 109 runs in the last three games at a strike rate of 138. Tucker, on the other hand, is struggling at number 6. His keeping statistics are also lacking. Nonetheless, Ireland will support him because its options are limited. This month, McBrine scored a century in a List A game. So far, the experienced all-rounder has 21 wickets in 26 T20Is. His economy is also less than 7. McBrine’s all-inclusive package will be difficult for India to accept.

With Simi Singh out, Josh Little will spearhead the bowling attack alongside Mark Adair and Craig Young. Little took seven wickets in the qualifier, including two for seventeen in the finals. The 22-year-old has played 34 T20s for Ireland and has 31 wickets at an economy rate of 7.49. Because this is Mark Adair’s first major series, all eyes will be on him. Adair has 59 wickets in 39 T20I.

India (Match Odds – 1.08)

In the absence of key team players, India has delegated captaincy to IPL 2022 winner Hardik Pandya. Pandya will lead India for the first time after turning the tables in the IPL this year with an all-round performance as captain of the Gujarat Titans. The player in the IPL final scored 487 runs, earning him a spot in the Indian squad. Pandya scored 117 runs at home against South Africa at a strike rate of 153.94. He is accompanied by another IPL star, Dinesh Karthik. Karthik returned to the IPL after a successful stint as a finisher for RCB. He scored 92 runs at a 46-run average against South Africa, including a match-winning 58-run knock in the fourth game. Pandya and Karthik were both on the 2018 Ireland tour but didn’t get much playing time.

The innings will begin with Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Kishan scored 206 runs in 5 games against South Africa at a strike rate of 150.36. Gaikwad, on the other hand, only played one knock of 57 throughout the series. This will be his chance to be considered for the World T20 squad. Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the squad following an injury that forced him to leave the IPL in the middle of the season. Surya has 351 runs in 12 T20I games, with a strike rate of 165.56. With Hardik and DK in the middle order, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, and Rahul Tripathi will compete for a spot in the middle order. Deepak Hooda and Venkatesh Iyer are also capable all-rounders. Hooda scored 451 runs in the IPL this season and has already made his India debut with 21 runs at a strike rate of 131.25.

Hardik Pandya’s replacement will be Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar took six wickets in the series against South Africa. Aside from that, he was India’s most economical bowler. Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan will both be in the starting lineup. Patel had the most wickets in the SA series. In the last T20I India played, Avesh Khan took 4 for 18. Before the regular team returns, India will continue to put Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh to the test. The lead spinners will be Yuzu Chahal and Axar Patel. Chahal took 6 wickets in the last two games after being hammered by SA in the first two.

Pitch and Weather Conditions

The first Twenty20 International between Ireland and India will be played at Castle Avenue in Dublin. It is Ireland’s home venue, having hosted 1 test, 16 ODIs, and 14 T20Is so far. At this venue, Scotland has the highest T20I score of 252 for 3 against the Netherlands.

Unfortunately, the weather will be rainy and windy throughout the game. In fact, rain is expected all week. The temperature will range between 11 and 16 degrees Celsius. The wind will be blowing at 28-33 km/h from the southwest. Because of its shorter boundaries, the pitch is ideal for batting. We have seen many big scores and successful chases at the Village.

Ireland vs India Match Prediction

Team India has the statistical advantage to win the game. They have gone unbeaten in their last nine home T20I series. They have won four of their last five away games. Furthermore, Ireland has yet to win a match against India. Despite the fact that India is playing their second team, everyone is experienced enough to easily defeat the hosts.

India is the favourite to beat Ireland at the odds of 1.08.

  • India has won 10, drawn 2, and lost 1 of the last 13 T20I series. They recently tied SA 2-2 at home.
  • Ireland has 5 victories and 3 losses in 8 T20Is this year. All of the losses have come against the UAE.
  • In Twenty20 Internationals, Ireland has never beaten India. So far, they have lost all three games against the visitors.
