India Tour of West Indies 2022 – West Indies vs India – 1st ODI Prediction

India may have just won an ODI against England, but it will be playing in the West Indies in a week to try to build on those gains. Because some of the top players have been rested, the youngsters will be given more opportunities in this series. A humiliating 3-0 loss to Bangladesh at home would have served as a wake-up call for the West Indies.

The West Indies appear to struggle the most in the ODI format, and even playing at home will not make it any easier to take on India.

The 1st ODI between West Indies vs India will take place on July 22nd, 2022 at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad.

West Indies vs India Team Previews

West Indies (Match Odds – 3.80)

The West Indies team will be hoping that its curators can prepare better pitches in Trinidad than what we saw against Bangladesh in Providence. Those surfaces were so spin-friendly that they were subcontinental. A better batting surface will allow West Indian batters to play their shots freely and use their batting depth to their advantage against India.

Shai Hope, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, and Jason Holder should all be able to contribute enough with the bat to make this a competitive match. In reality, we are wary of betting on West Indian batting and will avoid betting on them entirely.

The first ODI should feature Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, Jason Holder, and Akeal Hosein in the playing eleven. This is not a bad bowling unit and can pose challenging questions. Depending on how the West Indian team is selected, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, or Keemo Paul could fill the role of fifth bowler.

West Indies Squad

Shai Hope (wk), Brandon King, Shamarh Brooks, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran (c), Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Jayden Seales, Keemo Paul, Keacy Carty

Predicted XI: Shai Hope (wk), Brandon King, Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carty, Nicholas Pooran (c), Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph

India (Match Odds – 1.27)

India has chosen to send a young team to the West Indies, with players who lack experience but not talent. They will be eager to seize this opportunity and make a name for themselves. However, it will present a few selection challenges for India.

Shikhar Dhawan will open the batting, and we believe Shubman Gill will bat alongside him. This will provide India with the desired right-left combination. Of course, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also excellent choices.

Deepak Hooda, SKY, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson are all candidates for a spot in the crowded middle order. Whatever path India takes, there is a lot of serious batting talent here. Hooda is in excellent form right now, and we would bet on him to score runs.

We always bet on Sanju Samson to hit a six when he plays because he is so good at clearing the boundaries!

Prasidh Krishna, Mohammad Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal will follow Ravindra Jadeja at number seven. This will provide India with a wide range of options, genuine pace, and the guile of two world-class spinners.

India Squad

Shikhar Dhawan (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Sanju Samson (wk), Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh

Predicted XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Jadeja, Yuzi Chahal, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh/Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan

West Indies vs India Toss Prediction

Because the pitch conditions are unknown, both teams will look to chase the total in this match. Early moisture may also help the bowlers at the start of the match.

To Win the Toss – West Indies – 1.85

To Win the Toss – India – 1.85

Pitch and Weather Conditions

The Queen’s Park oval is expected to be a good pitch for both batters and bowlers. We expect batters to take advantage of the pitch as it fades as the game progresses. In this match, we can expect average scores of 270-280 runs.

The weather in Trinidad appears to be bright and sunny, which is ideal for getting a full game with no interruptions. According to the forecast, no rain or weather disturbances are expected.

West Indies vs India Match Prediction

India’s batting lineup is missing several players, but the team still appears strong due to their bench strength and IPL experience. India’s bowling attack is strong, with a good mix of young and experienced players. The West Indies are in transition, and their team lacks experience in comparison to this young Indian team. They have a dreadful record in bilateral series against India over the last 15 years and may need to play their best game to end their poor run. We expect India to win this match and extend their unbeaten streak against the West Indies.

India is the favourite to beat West Indies at the odds of 1.27.

  • India has won 11 ODI series against the West Indies (4 wins for the West Indies and 7 wins for India) and has never lost an ODI series since 2007.
  • In the most recent ODI series, India defeated England 2-1 in England.
  • West Indies were defeated 3-0 by Bangladesh in one-day internationals at home.
