Royal Challengers Bangalore (Match Odds – 1.94)

It appeared to be a ritual for RCB to put up the lowest total in each season of the IPL in their final game. After a forgettable performance, Faf du Plessis must have had a lengthy conversation with the boys. This season, the RCB’s top order has been crucial. Except for a couple of games, Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli have not provided the RCB with the necessary start. It’s past time for du Plessis to find a new opening partner. Rawat is having a bad season, which is affecting Kohli’s performance. Kohli has now won two golden ducks in a row this season. If RCB replaces Rawat with Rajat Patidar or Mahipal Lomror, Kohli can start with du Plessis. Furthermore, the addition of Lomror may provide them with an additional spin option.

So far, RCB’s middle-order has been the backbone of their victories. In the middle, Shahbaz Ahmed is providing consistent knocks. The left-handed all-arounder has 178 runs in 6 innings pitched, with a strike rate of 139.06. Dinesh Karthik, who has only been dismissed twice this season, has scored 210 runs at a strike rate of 200. Glenn Maxwell, the RCB’s retainer, has also played fast knocks at a strike rate of 179.71. However, he needs to play for a longer period of time with the current top order.

The RCB’s pace attack will be led by Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj, and Harshal Patel. With the exception of Siraj, the others have proven to be crucial in terms of wicket-taking. Patel and Hazelwood both have nine and eight wickets, respectively. Patel’s death bowling abilities can help RCB against RR, who are known for scoring big runs in the final 5 overs. With 11 wickets, Hasaranga is currently the RCB’s leading wicket-taker. If Lomror comes in, Hasaranga can count on him and Ahmed to help him stop the runs in the middle overs.

Rajasthan Royals (Match Odds – 1.84)

RR’s mojo has returned after back-to-back victories over KKR and DC. Nothing seems to be going wrong for them. Jos Buttler hit his third century of the season against DC, cementing his hold on the purple cap. You could see him chasing Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs and four hundreds in a season. So far, Buttler has scored 491 runs at a strike rate of 161.51. Devdutt Padikkal, his partner, is also scoring runs from the other end. Paddikal registered a half-century in RR’s last game. With the additions of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer later in the season, RR has the most destructible top-order.

Samson and Hetmyer both have strike rates above 170 and have scored over 200 runs. The main disadvantage of RR is its poor middle order. If the fantastic fours fail to perform, both Karun Nair and Riyan Parag are untrustworthy options for RR. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s return to the team will be ideal for Karun Nair. Riyan Parag will almost certainly not be replaced, as RR has been his backup for the last two seasons. Furthermore, aside from the five main bowlers, Parag is the only extra bowler in RR’s lineup.

RR may face a problem with their bowling attack because they only have 5 pure bowlers. As a result, the management anticipates that they will bowl a minimum of 18 to 19 overs. Trent Bolt has gone for runs in the last two games. Prasiddh Krishna is the one who is putting a stop to the runs. What a wicket maiden he bowled in the previous game! This season, Yuzvendra Chahal has been absolutely brilliant with the ball. Chahal has 18 wickets at an economy of 7.28 and has worn the purple cap for the last four matches. R Ashwin, on the other hand, is very economical for RR but does not get the wickets they require. After bowling 28 overs, Ashwin has only four wickets in seven games. After helping RR wins the last two games, Obed McCoy will continue to play the death-over bowler role. The addition of Navdeep Saini over Parag may provide a solution to this problem, but the million-dollar question is who will explain RR management.

These two teams always have a close encounter. However, RCB has defeated RR on the last five occasions. When compared to their current form, RR has been crushing it on all fronts. They are not only winning, but they are also at the top of the batting and bowling tables. The loss to SRH will haunt RCB for a long time. RR will have an advantage over RCB in this game.
