UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Matchday 4

Liverpool FC vs. Atalanta B.C. – Thu, 26th November

UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Match Prediction

An injury-hit Liverpool will welcome Atalanta at Anfield on matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League group stages. Hence, this will be the second time Atalanta and Liverpool have faced off in contentious football. Liverpool is coming off a massive win against Atalanta from their previous game with a scoreline of 5-0.

The difference between the first and the last-placed team in Group D in UCL is a massive 9 points and a contrast of 5 points with the remaining teams. These two teams still have an excellent opportunity to qualify if they could win all the remaining three matches.

Liverpool is having an outstanding season as they are currently leading Group D by winning all the three opening games. Liverpool is also presently placed in the second position in the Premier League points table. They have just lost once in all the nine matches they have played in that league.

On the other hand, Atalanta is not having the best season so far yet as they have simply secured the seventh position on the Serie A points table by just winning 4 out of the eight matches they have played. Atalanta has merely won a single game against all the teams in Group D that they have faced.

Liverpool’s form in all competitions: W-W-W-W-D-W

Atalanta’s form in all competitions: L-D-W-L-D-D

We prognosticate that it will be a tough win for the Liverpool team due to the injuries that their players face, but we still think they will anyhow contrive to pull off a 2-0 victory and bag another 3 points.

Liverpool FC will win this game.

Team Preview

Liverpool has defeated all the three teams in Group D that they have faced against; they could narrowly win against Ajax 1-0. Then they won 2-0 against Midtjylland and finally were able to humiliate Atalanta with a 5-0 scoreline. They haven’t lost even a single game in the last eight matches they have played in all the competitions, and a win in their next game will be the first time since a decade that they have won all 4 UCL games in a row.

Even Atalanta was unbeaten in the Champions League until they faced Liverpool in their previous game. Atalanta drew 2-2 with Ajax after defeating Midtjylland with a 4-0 scoreline. But all went south when they faced Liverpool and faced a humiliating defeat with a 5-0 scoreline. They have just won a single game in the previous six matches they’ve played in all the competitions.

The Reds sit at the top of Group D, followed by Ajax and then Atalanta, who is currently in the third position. Atalanta will have to put their all in for this match if they want to test Ajax for the second qualification spot. Liverpool has had the best defensive record in UCL so far as they have not even conceded a single goal in their first three games.

Liverpool’s predicted lineup: Becker, Milner, Phillips, Matip, Tsimikas, Tavares, Jones, Kieta, Shaqiri, Minamino and Origi

Atalanta’s predicted lineup: Sportiello, Zapata, Toloi, Gomez, Romero, Ilicic, Djimsiti, Mojica, Sutalo, Freuler and Pasalic

As the Reds have a weakened side due to giving rest to their first-team players, it wouldn’t be as easy as their 5-0 win against Atalanta like the last time. But we still think Liverpool will be able to pull off a 2-0 scoreline and win.
