English Premier League – Round 38

Man City v/s Everton – 23rd May

Another feather in the map for Manchester City

Manchester City

In their last game for the Premier League, Manchester City suffered a 3 – 2 defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion. That was one of their mere six defeats in a season where they have dominated the stand and made their mark. City’s miserly defence was breached thrice, and although Joao Cancelo’s early red card did not help their cause, Pep Guardiola would like to see a more assured performance by his back four as they prepare for the Champions League finals against Chelsea.

Gundogan has grabbed a lot of attention to him this season by driving the ball across the net. The team will be banking on him alongside Bryune and Sterling. With the return of Kevin De Bruyne almost guaranteed, the Belgian will hope to get his sharpness back. The legendary Sergio Aguero will bid farewell as the fans return to the Etihad. All in all, this will be a game that is not only a memorable affair for fans of the club but also a remarkable feather in the cap for Manchester City that has all but secured themselves the Champions title this season.

Predicted Line Up: ScottCarson, Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, Eric Garcia, Kyle Walker, Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Fernandinho, Raheem Sterling, Ferran Torres, Gabriel Jesus

Everton

On the other hand, Everton, also known as The Toffees, have been plagued by inconsistency and a series of missable defeats. Should they do win this game, they will hope to find some momentum for next season. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will be banking on the in-form striker Dominic Calvert Lewin to fire them back to form.

Colombian James Rodriguez has spoken openly about his plans to retire soon, and although he is just 29, a calf injury has hampered his returns for Everton. Holding the 9th position there is tremendous pressure on the team to secure their place in the Champions League. Moreover, to remain on the top half of the table, they must secure a win or else dropping down could become inevitable. However, given their recent games, this may just be a hit or miss.

Predicted Line Up: Pickford, Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne, Coleman, Doucoure, Allan, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert Lewin

Odds

To the surprise of no one, the odds come in favouring the team currently leading its way and making its mark on the Premier League stand – Manchester City. A formidable opponent, City has proven itself time and again across the years and this year is no different.

Having won 26 out of the 27 games played, this game would likely be another feather in the cap. The odds certainly reflect that with Man City getting 1.46, Everton securing 6.75, and a draw resulting in 5.00.

Betting Tips

Looking at the odds table, it would be fair to say that Manchester City might take this one, and betting on them would get you favourable returns. With soaring morale and a great set of the last couple of games, the team will be preparing to crush Everton that has suffered an unfortunate season with their players getting injured. Everton needs to up their spirits, strategies, and performance to make it through this one.
