Premier League 2020-21
Newcastle United F.C. vs. Chelsea F.C. – Sat, 21st November
Premier League 2020-21 Match Prediction
After the international break, the Premier League is back with a bang this weekend as Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United F.C. host Chelsea FC at St. James’ Park for a showdown.
Placed fifth with 15 points in the bag, Chelsea’s victory can see Frank Lampard’s side go up the table – though most likely only for a brief time. Newcastle, sitting 13th on the points table with 11 points, can move as high as seventh with a win in this Premier League clash.
Chelsea FC will win this game.
Chelsea is currently amid one of their firms runs under Frank Lampard. They have lost only once in their opening eight league matches, anguishing defeat at the hands of Premier League champions Liverpool.
Newcastle, meanwhile, has seen mixed results throughout the season. Wins over Everton, West Ham, and Burnley have been counterpoised by losses to Manchester United, Southampton, and Brighton. Upsettingly, they have scored just ten goals this season.
Last season saw these two sides split results. Head to head; they won a match each. Chelsea defeated Newcastle in October at Stamford Bridge, while Newcastle took the revenge win at St. James’ Park in January.
Newcastle remains without their left-back Matt Ritchie and prime goalkeeper Martin Dubravka due to long-term injuries. However, winger Ryan Fraser is almost ready to return from a thigh injury. He could well take place on the bench for Saturday’s upcoming game.
Chelsea is likely to be missing a couple of prime players for this battle. Both Christian Pulisic and Ben Chilwell were unable to play for their international sides with injuries this week. Christian is unlikely to be available for this game, but Chilwell may still be involved.
Frank Lampard’s side would jump from fifth to first with victory in the opening match of game week nine, but they have strived at this venue in recent seasons. This has been something of a boggle ground for the Blues in recent times, then. Still, the form book and league position suggest the visitors should be favorites; it will nonetheless be a good challenge of Chelsea’s title credentials.
Chelsea is now undefeated in six Premier League games and eight across all competitions, all the while tightening things up at the back and increasing their attacking power at the other end of the pitch. Indeed, the Blues are now the league’s highest scorers with 20 goals from their eight games, including four last time against languishing Sheffield United.
Newcastle is yet to record the same result in two successive games. They will need to share the spoils with Chelsea to topple them over. Albeit Bruce’s side could record back-to-back home wins for the first time since December 2019 and, given their recent record when hosting Chelsea, they have reason to believe they can achieve that.
Chelsea may have struggled at St James’ Park in recent years, but everything seems to be pointing in their direction for this match. The Magpies at full strength may have fancied themselves to pick up at least a point in this match, but with the hosts missing some key players, we are backing the Blues to come out on top.
