Team Preview

Indian Super League (ISL) team Odisha FC have made quite an impact of being regarded as the dark horse of the tournament in just one season of proceedings. The Bhubaneswar-based side has some exceptional foreign signings along with a young Indian squad. Odisha FC will be hopeful of making it to the top-four of the ISL for the very first time.

Odisha FC has quite a decent chunk of experience in the goalkeeper’s department. Experienced campaigners like Ravi Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Kamaljit Singh are part of the goalkeeping line-up. Their defence can be one of the most adamant back-fours in the league. Spearheaded by former Newcastle United central defender and captain to this side, Steven Taylor in the middle of the defence, the Juggernauts can hope to concede a lot lesser goals than the previous season. Due to their extraordinary depth in the Indian camp, it will be a tough contest between players to break into the starting line-up.

He is proclaimed as ‘Mr. Odisha’, Manuel Onwu returns to lead the Odisha FC line-up. Diego Mauricio can also come handy for Odisha FC in the attack. They sure did lose the first pre-season friendly match against Chennaiyin FC but hey shall get their combinations right before this game and come back stronger.

On the other hand, Hyderabad FC had a disastrous inaugural season in 2019-20. While there was a lot of optimism in the air, the excitement of fans was soon crushed by a streak of inconsistent performances. Hyderabad languished at the bottom of the table and have been forced to make a complete rebuild of the squad. They have brought in Spanish footballer Manuel Marquez to take charge of the team and made some vital foreigner signings to rejuvenate the team camp.

India’s former number one Subrata Paul is expected to continue getting the nod ahead of the young keepers in the squad. He has been consistent, and Hyderabad’s goalkeeping department looks fine. They have a formidable Indian line-up in defence. This depth in defence squad has allowed them to focus on the attacking line-up in the upcoming season.

With the enrollment and the ideology of the club in place, it would be challenging to picture a playoff scene without featuring Hyderabad FC. Hyderabad FC owners will be expecting several good performances from the club this season.
