UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Matchday 4
Olympique de Marseille vs. FC Porto – Thu, 26th November
UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Match Prediction:
Marseille will welcome Porto in Orange Velodrome on Thursday for the Champions League group stage. They haven’t had the greatest season so far as they are at the rock bottom of Group C and their European venture also seems to die soon. Their supporters aren’t optimistic as Andre Villas-Boas’s team’s first outing in the Champions League since 2013-14 season seems doomed to come to an early end.
Marseille underwent a loss against Olympiacos with a scoreline of 1-0 and an embarrassing loss to Manchester City with a scoreline of 3-0, and the Portuguese champions comfortably defeated Marseille 3-0 in that encounter. If Marseille does not win against Porto in the upcoming match, then they can say goodbye to their belief of securing into the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, Porto is looking all set for another win. Sergio Conceicao’s team go into this game in great form having won in five of their last six matches in all competitions. They lost to Man City in their first Champions League fixture with a scoreline of 3-1. Then they faced Olympiacos and won 2-0. Porto also registered a 3-1 victory against Portimonense, and then the champions also defeated Fabril Barreiro 2-0.

Porto’s form in all competitions: WWLWWW
Thus, we predict that Porto would win 2-1 against Marseille as the difference between both of them is of six points and two wins. Still, Marseille will give a tough challenge to Porto because a win for them is the only hope to stay in the competition which they became a part of after more than 15 years.
FC Porto will win this game.
Team Preview:
Villas-Boas is spoilt for choice with regards to selecting the team, as Marseille has no injury or suspension concerns whatsoever for the upcoming clash with Porto. But they do have concerns on the attacking side as Dario Benedetto is still without a single goal in 11 games he has played this season, and his position is under threat by Valere Germain.
Alvaro Gonzalez and Hiroki Sakai missed out the win over Strasbourg due to suspension, but both of them are set to start here. Also, Morgan Sanson’s goal against Les Coureurs has put him up in contention to be recalled to the midfield.
Whereas, Porto have quite a few defensive affairs to deal with as Ivan Marcano and Pepe are set to miss out due to their injury, while their goalkeeper Mouhamed Mbaye is still recuperating from cruciate ligament surgery. Marko Grujic will also be unavailable due to a concussion he suffered.
Marseille’s possible starting lineup: Mandanda, Germain, Sakai, Thauvin, Gonzalez, Payet, Caleta-Car, Sanson, Amavi, Kamara and Rongier
Porto’s possible starting lineup: Marchesin, Mbembaa, Corona, Diaz, Manafaa, Marega Sarr, Otavio, Sanusi, Oliveira and Uribe
We predict that Porto would win 2-1 against Marseille as Sergio Conceicao’s men have already convincingly defeated Villas-Boas’s men before and this win at Orange Velodrome will be another step towards the next stage for them.
