India (Match Odds – 1.48)
For the bilateral series, India has decided to rest skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. In addition, they will be without Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja due to injuries. KL Rahul will assume command once more. Rahul was the IPL’s second leading run-scorer, with 616 runs at a strike rate of 135.38 – his fourth consecutive 600+ run performance. He’ll talk to either Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ishan Kishan. Last year’s orange cap holder Gaikwad had a good season, finishing with 368 runs and a strike rate of 126.46. Kishan, on the other hand, was inconsistent throughout the IPL. He had a strike rate of 120.11 and scored 418 points.
India has two contenders for the third position. Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Hooda Hooda had 451 runs at 136.67 for LSG, but he may be overlooked in favour of Shreyas Iyer. Iyer will play all five Twenty20 Internationals before joining the Test squad in England. With the first four positions secured, India must choose between Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik to play the finisher’s role. Pandya led his newly added IPL franchise to their first IPL championship. The finals’ man of the match was the fourth-highest run-scorer, with 487 runs at 131.27. Pandya also took eight wickets with the ball, three of which came in the final. Karthik’s comeback was the most notable, with the RCB finisher scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33. Rishabh Pant has been appointed as Rahul’s deputy. Before going to the T20 World Cup, his form, along with Karthik and Kishan, will be scrutinised.
Kuldeep Yadav, the IPL’s Purple Cap holder, will lead the spin attack. This IPL, the ‘Kulchas’ took 48 wickets. I Bhavneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan will lead the Indian pace attack. Patel and Khan both maintained their form from the previous season’s IPL, taking 19 and 18 wickets, respectively. Umran Malik, the IPL’s emerging player of the season, and death over specialist Arshdeep Singh have received their first call-ups. Malik, who regularly bowled above 150, took 22 wickets in his first IPL season as a regular. Who wouldn’t want him to break his 157 km/h record in this series?

South Africa (Match Odds – 2.60)
South Africa under Bavuma will rely on the success of Quinton de Kock, David Miller, and Kagiso Rabada in the IPL. Quinton batted 148.97 and scored 508 runs in 15 games. In T20Is, he has a strong record against India. He’ll begin with Reeza Hendricks. Rassie Van der Dussen will take the third spot. So far, the right-handed batter has 933 runs in 34 games. South Africa may bench Hendricks in favour of Aiden Markram for the first few games.
In a recent press conference, Bavuma stated that David Miller will bat in the middle order and will get a chance to bat early. The IPL champion had a career-best season, scoring 481 runs at 142.73. His record against India is dismal. Miller has only scored 99 runs in nine games against India. With so much power depth in the batting order, Bavuma will bat sixth.
South Africa’s pace attack will be led by Rabada, Nortje, and Dwaine Pretorious. Rabada finished third in the leading wicket-takers’ table, with 23 wickets at an average of 17.65. Nortje will return after missing more than 8 months due to injury. The web will be spun by Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi against India. South Africa is more likely to play both on spin-friendly pitches in India.
