South Africa Tour of India 2022 – India vs South Africa – 4th T20I Match Prediction

The fourth Twenty20 International between India and South Africa is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. on June 17th at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. India defeated South Africa by 48 runs to keep the five-match Twenty20 International series alive. This was India’s largest margin of victory against South Africa in terms of runs. The series is tied at 2-1, with two games remaining on June 17th and 19th.

After losing the first two games, Indian players rose to the occasion. In the first ten overs, the opening batters scored 97 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad (57) and Ishan Kishan (54) both finished with half-centuries. SA bowlers made a comeback by limiting Indian batters’ ability to score freely. Hardik Pandya hit 31 off 21 deliveries to lead India to 179 runs for the loss of five wickets. South Africa suffered regular blowbacks while chasing the target as wickets continued to fall. Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets for twenty runs, and Harshal Patel finished with four wickets for 25 runs.

This was India’s first victory over South Africa this year, following a run of seven defeats in all formats. South Africa, on the other hand, suffered its second loss in the last 15 T20Is and its first in the last eight. The fourth game is critical for India to win in order to keep the series alive. Given the history of SA in India, it will be difficult for Rishabh Pant to replicate his soldiers’ valor.

The 4th T20I between India vs South Africa will take place on June 17th, 2022 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

India vs South Africa Team Previews

India (Match Odds – 1.60)

India’s decision to field an unchanged team paid dividends. They are also unlikely to add a new participant for the fourth game. Kishan and Ruturaj have now combined for two fifty-plus opening stands in this series. Kishan has 164 runs in three games with a strike rate of 157.69. He has recently risen 68 places to seventh place in the top ten T20I batters. In his first over, Gaikwad hit five fours to Anrich Nortje. This performance brings his total number of runs to 81 at a strike rate of 150. Shreyas Iyer was used in the middle to attack Shamsi and Maharaj. His strike rate against spinners is over 200, but it is less than 100 against pace. His strike rate (123.29) is the lowest of any Indian batter in this tournament.

The Indian middle-order has yet to perform as a group. Pant has thrown his wicket in all three matches by using similar shots. He has a 13.33 average. He hasn’t hit a 50 with a white ball since February. Pandya has played two crucial innings in this series (31* in 12 and 31* in 21). India is experimenting with Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik’s batting positions. Karthik should bat ahead of Axar in the 11-20 overs to keep the run flow going.

Yuzvendra Chahal had his best performance in Visakhapatnam, taking three wickets for 20 runs. He bowled out the top order, which included Pretorious, Van der Dussen, and Klassen. After taking 6 wickets in the first three games, Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the obvious choices to finish 8 overs. Avesh Khan’s inclusion could be in jeopardy. Khan has bowled well in the first three games but has yet to take a wicket.

India Squad

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(c & wk), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Y Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, R Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik

South Africa (Match Odds – 2.30)

South Africa can still keep their perfect record in the bilateral series in India if they win the fourth T20I. With Quinton de Kock’s availability for the remainder of the series in doubt, Bavuma and Reeza Hendricks will open the innings for South Africa. For an opener, Bavuma’s strike rate (110.42) is concerning. However, Aiden Markram has been ruled out of the series. South Africa has no choice but to start Bavuma. In the third T20I, Hendricks scored only 23 runs. Dwayne Pretorious is in a similar situation. He has failed to capitalize on the opportunity to score at number 3 after his thunderous innings in the first game.

In the first T20I, Van der Dussen hit a match-winning 75 off 46 balls. He’s gotten out on 1 in both games since then. In the third game, SA’s middle order struggled against the spin. Henrich Klassen was the only bright spot in the innings, scoring 29 in 24 balls before being caught by Chahal. So far, David Miller has a strike rate of 170.59. His performance will be critical if SA is to win the fourth game.

The pace attack will be led by Rabada, Nortje, and Parnell. Despite being economical, the trio has only taken 7 wickets in the first three games. The spin attack by the SA is no exception. Maharaj and Shamsi have averaged nearly 11 runs per over. The pair has taken four wickets but has been ineffective throughout the series. SA could replace one of them with Lungi Ngidi or Marco Jansen.

South Africa Squad

Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, Rassie van der Dussen, Marco Jansen

Predicted XI: Temba Bavuma (c), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen

India vs South Africa Toss Prediction

Teams have successfully chased the target in three T20Is. Despite the fact that the average first innings score is higher than the average second innings score, chasing will be preferred here. India successfully chased a 202-run target against Australia in 2013, when Yuvraj Singh hit 77 off 35 deliveries. The team that wins the toss should bat first.

Pitch and Weather Conditions

The fourth Twenty20 International between India and South Africa will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The stadium has a capacity of 28000 spectators and has previously hosted two tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. In domestic cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja both scored triple centuries at the same venue.

The sky will be partly cloudy. The temperature will range between 27 and 37 degrees Celsius. The wind will be blowing at 15-25 km/h from the southwest. Batters can benefit from the pitch. It has the potential to be a high-scoring game, similar to the previous three games played here.

India vs South Africa Match Prediction

India showed signs of improvement in the third T20I. Both the batting and bowling departments performed admirably. However, their vulnerable middle-order was exposed at the same time. South Africa suffered similar setbacks and lost their first T20I after eight games. Overall, South Africa’s bowling attack has been average. With de Kock and Markram unavailable, their batting order may struggle against the Indian bowling unit. India has a habit of fighting back in home series, especially when they are down. They are considered favorites to win the fourth T20I.

India is the favourite to beat South Africa at the odds of 1.60.

  • Harshal Patel’s four wickets helped India successfully defend a target of 180 in the third T20I.
  • This was India’s first victory over South Africa after 7 losses in all formats this year.
  • South Africa has three victories in the last five T20Is between India and South Africa, while India has two.
