South Africa vs. England 2020
1st T20I – Fri, 27th November
SA vs. Eng Match Prediction
We are back to International Cricket after a long break, due to the covid-19 outburst. The England Cricket team will visit South Africa to take on the proteas in a series that involves three T20Is and three ODIs. This series will begin on November 27th, overlapping with the beginning of the New Zealand-West Indies series and India-Australia series.
The first T20I game will be played at Newlands in Cape Town. While there is some internal struggle in the Cricket South Africa Board that impends to disturb proceedings, it seems that the tour will go on as planned. Skipper Eoin Morgan will lead the England squad while Quinton De Kock will lead the home team, South Africa.
The players in England crew seem more poised with their deeper batting and bowling line up. Hence, despite home conditions favouring South Africa, we predict England will win the first game on 27th.
England will win this game.
England is placed second in the ICC T20I Rankings, merely behind Australia. Eoin Morgan’s team last played a three-match T20I series alongside Australia just before the IPL. They won the series 2-1, with wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler starring as the Player of the Series award for his remarkable performances at the top of the batting order. They will look to get a better result this time around.
Their long batting line up consisting of big hitter in the likes of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Jason Roy and Skipper Eoin Morgan will allow them to exploit South Africa’s bowlers. Owing to the past performances in the IPL, they will be highly sanguine.
Home team South Africa, on the other hand, has also curated a good squad for the clash against England. Their bowling line up led by Kagiso Rabada and Arnich Nortje who have enjoyed bowling in tandem during the IPL will prove to be lethal for England.
Although the live spectators give an adrenaline rush to the cricketers on the turf, the players themselves will have to their work at the end of the day. This series too will be played behind closed doors.
The venue, Pitch Report, and Toss Prediction:
Newlands, home of Western Province Cricket, has been pronounced by many as one of the most stunning cricket grounds in the World. The wicket at Newlands assists the spin bowlers. But the pace attack will be the force to reckon as the ball can show movement at the early stages of the game.
The ball will be expected to do a bit off the pitch upfront though the bounce should be true. Our Match Prediction forecasts that teams will opt to the bat first on winning the toss. Therefore, the toss will be critical.
Key Players to watch:
- All-rounder Ben Stokes, strike bowler Jofra Archer, and skipper Eoin Morgan of England will be key players to watch.
- Pacer Kagiso Rabada, Captain Quinton De Kock and veteran Faf Du Plessisof South Africa will be key Player to watch.
