UEFA Champions League 2020-21

Stade Rennais F.C. vs. Chelsea F.C. – Tue, 24th November

UEFA Champions League 2020-21 Match Prediction

Chelsea has had an erratic inauguration to this season, but now they are on a nine-game unbeaten run. All the new signings are finally showing hints of gelling together, which has helped Frank Lampard’s side to be on a solid run of form.

Stade Rennais F.C. also referred as Rennes has not even won a single match yet and thus is on the bottom of Group E. They had an opening draw against Krasnodar, followed by a loss to Sevilla and then another loss against Chelsea. Rennes has had a four-game winless streak before their triumph against Brest in Ligue 1.

We predict that Chelsea will win but not as laidback as it did in the home fixture against Rennes. We predict a 2-0 win for the Blues, which should see them in pole position to qualify from the group.

Chelsea F.C. will win this game.

Team Preview

Chelsea also has heavily invested in the summer transfer window. New signings like Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, and Hakim Ziyechhave looked good in recent games, while the presence of Edouard Mendy in goal has seen the defense be in safe hands. Chelsea occupies the top spot in their Champions League group. Rennes remains at the bottom, and the Blues should not have significant problems against them this week, as they have already defeated them 3-0 in the previous game. Thus, we predict the score line would be in favor of Chelsea.

Chelsea is currently at the top of the Group E table after going unbeaten in their first four Champions League games. Frank Lampard’s team has also had a steady start to the Premier League season, as they sit 2nd in the table, just 3 points from the top of the table.

Rennes has invested heavily in the summer; they have lost key attacker Raphinha to Leeds United. Quite a few young talents like Jeremy Doku and Martin Terrier have arrived, while Eduardo Camavinga continues to be the club’s prized asset. We yet are not sure how the club would counter to their injury worries. Their  2-1 win against Brest meant that the club was placed third in Ligue 1 standings after that win, however, now they are set 5th in standings, and they are just 6 points behind leaders PSG. Rennes has astounded everyone with their Ligue 1 form this season.

The French side sits 5th in the French league as they prepare to take on Strasbourg this weekend after the clash against Chelsea. However, they have not replicated a comparable form in the UEFA Champions League. The Ligue 1 team currently sits 4th in the table after securing 1 point from their first four Champions League games.

If they want to qualify from this group, this game against Chelsea is a must win result for their side. Chelsea won 3-0 the last time these two teams faced each other for the first time on November 4th. A goal from Tammy Abraham and a brace from Timo Werner was sufficient to see the Blues run out victors against Rennes.
