Tottenham vs Aston Villa – 19th May

Spurs running in headfirst towards the Lions

Tottenham

Striving to climb from the 6th position to make it to the top 4, a win has become a must for Tottenham Hotspurs. Dominating the initial stages of the league, the team’s performance began to falter in the later half.

After their defeat in Leeds, they are ready to bounce back stronger. Besides Harry Kane’s commendable performance that makes him the best player at Tottenham, Gareth Bale has continuously proved himself this season too. Kane and Bale continue their hot streak of goals and secured a victory against the Wolves in their last match.  Kane leads the Golden Boot and will want to stretch his gap at the top.

Recently appointed Tottenham manager, Ryan Mason has had a good start to life in North London. He has managed to get the best out of Dele Alli, which the previous manager failed to do.

Predicted Line-up: Hugo Lloris, Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon,  Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Tanguy Ndombele, Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min, Karry Kane

 Aston Villa

It is fair to say that 2021 hasn’t been kind to Aston Villa. Injury to key player Jack Grealish has impacted the team’s performance miserably this season. While the player did make a comeback in the last game against Crystal Palace, the team unfortunately lost the game. Grealish’s recovery is still in process. On the other hand, Ollie Watkins would like to push his case for inclusion in the Euros by continuing his impressive exploits.

Last year, Aston Villa was battling among the top 6, and their win over Liverpool with a smashing score of 7-2 made it to the highlights. This season, they are aiming to enter the top half of the table from their current position at 11.

Predicted Line-up: Emilano Martinez, Ahmed Elmohamady, Matt Targett, Ezri Konsa, Kortney Hause, John McGinn, Anwar El Ghazi, Jacob Ramsey, Douglas Luiz, Bertrand Traore, Ollie Watkins

 Odds

Both teams are going to put their best foot forward in the upcoming game since, while Tottenham will be looking into getting to the top 4, Aston Villa has to move up by a couple of ranks to make a place for itself in the top half of the table. The game is expected to be intense, as both teams are determined and keen to grab their desired spots. The odds seem to favour Tottenham considering their previous performance this season and place Aston Villa at 6.25, Tottenham at 1.51, and a draw at 4.85.

Betting Tip

With odds as strong as that, Tottenham seems to be the likely successor of this game. Add to that, the fact that their recent performance has been nothing short of fierce and this shone through the last time they met Aston Villa on the ground. With a brutal defeat of 2-0 at their home ground, they certainly made a lasting mark. But will this mark still hold true? We can only watch and find out. As far as betting, it may be safe to say that Aston Villa is not the one to go for.
